Enviro-Active
Background to the Composting Process
Composting is the biodegradation of organic matter during the storage of waste. This is therefore of benefit when organic waste is accumulated such as on farms and in gardens, as it reduces the quantity of waste stored via a naturally occurring process.
This process occurs as a result of the action of various microorganisms consisting mainly of bacteria, but also to a certain extent yeasts and moulds. These microorganisms can break down biodegradable materials completely to produce carbon dioxide, water and biomass. Alternately they can metabolise compostable materials, either by incorporating them into their own internal biochemistry or by converting it into humus. Thus compostable material biodegrades substantially under specific composting conditions, but not completely. Humus is defined as organic matter that has reached a point of stability where it will break down no further.
Benefit of Enviro-Active
A heap of compost or manure is typically rich in micronutrients defined as essential nutrients required in relatively large amounts for growth of organisms such as bacteria. However, compost is often deficient in micronutrients such as vitamins and minerals which are required by bacteria in minute quantities in order to thrive and populate. Enviro-Active is a super concentrated blend of specifically isolated micronutrients which solve this deficiency in the compost pile. This results in the stimulation of composting microorganisms, increasing their activity and growth by up to 8 times. By speeding up the composting process, volumes are more quickly reduced and the fertiliser nutrients are more efficiently preserved.
The above figures illustrate different kinds of compost before and after treatment with Enviro-Active. Decomposition is clearly observed in both examples after treatment with the product.
Application
Enviro-Active is available in 2 litre containers and is sufficient for treatment of 8002 metres of compost. To use, add 20ml of Enviro-Active to 10 litres of water. This is sufficient to treat 82 metres of compost/manure. Dilute the concentrate into a ready to use form and place in a pump action sprayer and use accordingly. The product can be used for treatment of farm manure, equine manure and garden compost.
