“GROW MORE PROFIT FROM EVERY LITRE”

BACK TO BASICS TO BE LAUNCHED AT NEXT MONTH’S DAIRY EVENT AT THE NEC BIRMINGHAM

As many South West farmers are faced with ever rising feed costs it is essential that full use is made from forages in diets this coming winter. For the second year running, adverse weather conditions nationally have lead to an increase in price of both energy and protein within feed concentrates. Independent experts have reported,  lower than average grass silage yields compared to previous years, however many farmers have opted for cereals as their wholecrop forage in hope of increasing forage volumes.

Greater consideration on the health of your herds Rumen will reduce the chances of acidosis and create a stable rumen for maximum digestion of fibre.

One proven way to maximise rumen health is EnviroSystems “Back to Basics” concept, which establishes how valuable slurry and grass is to every farm producing milk/meat. It is aimed at reducing expensive fertiliser and feed bills through use of soil-originating bacteria to improve the nutrient value of slurry and silage. By combining slurry management with land management and silage production this whole farm approach allows farmers to understand they can achieve sustainable intensive farming.  Managing Director Liz Russell commented “Let’s go Back to Basics.  You can buy less feed and fertiliser and improve milk production per cow.  It’s the future to get your existing farm assets working better for you. Back to Basics is the future for growing more profit from your farm”
